Will Book “C”, p. 533

 

          In the name of God Amen, I Daniel Reynolds of the town of Benton in the county of Luzerne and State Pennsylvania being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of the frail and transitory life of therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.  That is to say

          First. After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my estate real and personal I give bequeath and dispose as follows to wit:

          1st To my beloved wife I will and bequeath that she shall have the use of all the furniture that belongs to me and the house to live in a horse and Wagon to use and have a good comfortable support from the proceeds of the farm so long as she shall live and need the same to my beloved wife Sally Ann.

          2nd To my sons Edward and Fernando I give and bequeath all of my Estate real and personal subject to the following discount or legacies to be paid by them:

                   1st That my beloved wife shall receive at their hands all of the above named provisions which I have made for her:      (*there is no “2nd’)

                   3rd To the wife of my son Perry dec’d as his representative I give five dollars:

                   4th To my son Daniel I give five dollars:

                   5th To the children of my daughter Nancy I give one dollar each.

                   6th To my daughter Eliza ______ I give five dollars:

                   7th  To my daughter Betsy I give five dollars:                  

8th To my daughter Emily dec’d I give five dollars for the use of her daughter Selinda When she shall become of age:

9th to my daughter Louisa I give five dollars together with a good setting out for housekeeping equal of my daughter Emily dec’d.  Provided they do not receive the said outfit of me during my life:

10th to my daughter Phydelia I give five dollars together with the same provisions for outfit & which I have made for Louisa:

11th To my daughter Isabell I give five dollars together with the provisions made for Louisa and Phydelia:

         

          I further decree that Louisa Phydelia and Isabell shall have a house on the farm with their mother so long as they live a single life:

          I further will and decree that in case of the death of my son Edward without any heirs then the property so willed shall belong to Fernando likewise if Fernando should died without heirs the property to belong Edward otherwise to share equal in the property so disposed of.

          Likewise I make constitute and appoint my son Edward and Fernando to be executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.  In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the twenty-fourth of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and fifty four.

Subscribed by the said Daniel Reynolds in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last Will and Testament and we at the Testators request and in his presence have signed our names as witness hereto and written opposite our names our respective residence.
