Peter Ryman’s Will

Will Book “A”, p. 536

 

       Dallas, March 14, 1838

 

          In the name of God amen, I, Peter Ryman of Dallas township, County of Luzerne and state of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of sound mind, my understanding and memory being perfect do make and ordain this my last will and testament, in manner and form following viz: I give and bequeath (after my personal charges are defrayed and all my lawful debts are paid) to my son Joseph one Dollar

to my daughter Hannah one Dollar,

to my son John ten Dollars

to daughter Eliza fifty dollars,

to my son Peter’s children to my son Jacob ten dollars

and to my son Richard if he lives with my son Abraham or myself until he is

twenty one years of age, if it should please God to spare my life two hundred dollars,

and to my daughter Matilda Ann fifty dollars,

 

          All the rest of my estate goods and chattels, I give and bequeath to my son Abraham when I require to maintain my dearly beloved wife Mary or Polly, or cause her to be decently maintained during her natural life.  And I do nominate, constute – and appoint my son Abraham sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other and former wills by me at any time heretofore made.  In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day of in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty eight, signed sealed published and declared by the testator Peter Ryman as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who have subscribed our names as witness thereto in the presence of the said testator,
