The Will of
STEPHEN MANTANYE



The last will and testament of Exeter Township, Luzerne County. I, Stephen Mantanye considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being sound mind and memory (blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following (that is to say) First I will that all my just debts as shall be by me owing at my at my death, together with my funeral expenses and all charges tisching the providing of or otherwise concerning this my will shall in the first place out of my personal estate and effects be fully paid and satisfied, and from and after payment thereof and subject thereunto, then my will is that my beloved wife Sally Mantanye, Shall have the whole use and control of all my estate real and personal until my son Miller attains the age of fourteen years which will be the third day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty, then my will is that my whole estate real and personal shall be appraised or inventoried and after taking one cow and six sheep and all household furniture from the personal, which I give to my wife Sally, the residue to be divided and disposed of in the manner that one equal part go to my wife Sally to will and to do as she pleases, it shall be at her option to have the real estate so partly and divided that she can reside over otherwise have the use of one equal third of the same during her natural life which shall be in Lieu of Dover? . It is my will that the remaining two thirds of the real estate together with the personal property not already bequeather, or the value of the same shall be equally divided and share among my five sons, vizi Charles Issac James John and Miller H. and my daughter Lydia, excepting the one hundred shall be taken from Lydia and put to that of Charles, with above exception to be divided equally among the six above named children share and share alike and to be paid and delived to Daughter Lydia and son Charles at the time of the division in June 1850, and to my son Issac,James,John and Miller H. at their several respective ages of twenty-one. And my will and meaning is and I do hereby declare that the expenses of the maintainance and education of my said children until the dividing of the Estate given and bequeathed to her in and by my said last will provoding they or the estates or premises. I do hereby appoint my beloved wife Sally Mantanye Executrix and Daniel Harding Executor of this the last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-two.
