The Will of
THOMAS MAJOR



I, Thomas Major of the township of Lehman, County of Luzerne and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, farmer, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretfore made.

And first, I command my Soul to God, who gave it, and I direct that after my decease, my body be decently interred, and as to such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows.

First, I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as pracible out of the first moneys that shall come into the hands of my Executors from any portion of my estate real or personal.

And I do give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary, all my estate both real and personal, (with the exceptions of the legacies hereinafter mentioned) to hold and enjoy the same during her natural life, and after her decease it is my will and desire that all my estate both real and persnal (with the exception of the legacies herinafter mentioned be equally divided between my two youngest sons David and George, share and share alike.

And it is my Will and desire that my two sons David and George work the land and farm it as they have been wont to do to have the use of the house to live in, to have the team or teams necessary, and the farming utensils, the use of the outbuilding during their mothers lifetime, and I further direct and request my Executors hereinafter mentioned, to pay my five sons, viz: Thomas, John, Robert, William and Francis out of my estate real or personal the sum of ten dollars each within one year after my decease, or to their heirs or assigns, as I think I have given them as much of my property during my life time as I think to be right.

I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth wife of Edward Wardell ot to her heirs or assigns the sum of forty Dollars to be paid two years after my decease,

I also give and bequeath to my daughter Mary wife of Miner Fuller or to her heirs or assigns the sum of forty dollars, to be paid in two years after my decease.

Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca the wife of Benjamin Jayne, or to her heirs or assigns the sum of forty dollars, to be paid in two years after my decease.

Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Ellen the wife of Josiah Lamoreaux or to her heirs or assigns the sum of forty dollars to be paid in two years after my decease.

And further it is my will and desire, that my two sons David and George should inherit all my estate, both real and personal, share and share alike from and after the decease of their mother, always excepting the legacies before mentioned.

And I do hereby make and ordain my two sons David and George Executors to this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I Thomas Major the testator have to this my will written on one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal, this sixteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two.
